The Power of being Prepared

“OOO! OOO! OOO! PICK ME!! PICK ME!!!”

Remember that? That feeling of knowing? That feeling of preparedness? Remember the confidence? The pride? That is the power of knowing.

“Oh no. Please don’t pick me. Please don’t pick me. Please.”

Remember that? That feeling of unpreparedness? Of shame? Of doubt? This is also the power of knowing – knowing that you are unprepared.

Suppose you owe someone 20 dollars and you see that person across a crowded room. If you are unprepared to repay the debt, you may feel ashamed and then avoid coming into contact with that person. But if you are prepared, I imagine that you would do all that is possible to locate that person and repay the debt.

I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. – Rom 1:14-16 KJV

As Christians we should all be able to say what Paul says the Romans. We all should be aware of and able to acknowledge that sharing the Gospel is a debt that we owe to society. We should also be ready to repay our debt and not be ashamed to do so.

– From God’s mouth, to my heart, to the world –
